My favourite traditional fighters are 3rd Strike and Guilty Gear Strive. 3s feels really good to play and isn't quite as off the wall as Strive, but Strives longer combos are also a lot of fun.
My favourite fighter overall is still Rivals of Aether, a platform fighter designed from the ground up to be competitive. It's a smaller game, but it's got a lot of depth, without the kind of absurd skill floor required of Melee, and it's really balanced with 14 characters. Movement feels smooth, combos are fun, the characters are unique (and unlike Smash are actually designed to be played competitively, meaning there are few useless moves), and the game has so many little quality of life fixes that other platfighters don't have. I know there's a stigma around Smash, but a lot of the Rivals players I know also play other fighting games, so if anyone here is interested give the game a shot sometime!
