Jotamide I think about this a lot with smash and how excited people get for the new characters and such. Like don't get me wrong, ult, as a complete package, is a really incredible game...but imo, I really only feel good saying that knowing that it's already fairly easy to emulate it really well. Unless they just intend to port ult to every future nintendo console x or y number of decades from now, there just isn't going to be any great way to experience a game like that again other than emulation. Even if they release an "ultimate: DX" with all the included DLC, who's to say that won't ALSO require downloads anyways. Not to mention things like that new KH track that requires save data of an entirely separate game to add the the library 🤔
At the very least, T7 has a PC version, so the complete files for that will definitely be around as long as the internet continues to exist. If folks want to play T7, they'll have a pretty simple way to do it, even if it isn't as easy as launching it on whatever future console they may have. Hard to guess the reasoning without the P&L's front-and-center, but it's a pain preservation-wise nonetheless for sure.
